Free surfing lessons are available for young girls from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25 at Ukumehame Beach Park in Lahaina ~ thanks to a partnership between a local nonprofit organization and a popular surf school.
Big Brother’s Big Sisters (BBBS), and one of Maui’s top surf schools, Maui Surfer Girls, have collaborated to provide the free surf and stand-up paddle (SUP) instruction during the morning and early afternoon for Maui keiki (children).
The event's goal is to connect local children with the ocean as well as with each other.
Maui Surfer Girls’ surf instructors teach ocean safety, awareness, and how to be an environmentally friendly surfer, while also providing simple techniques to succeed surfing.
All needed surfing equipment will be provided, including surf and SUP boards, booties, and rashguards, as well as other goodies.
The event is coed, where mentors of the BBBS program bring their “littles” in an inspirational and fun-filled day of learning the water sports. Girls and boys, ages 10 and up are welcome.

Patchy rain nearby, with a high of 79 and low of 74 degrees. Sunny in the morning, patchy rain nearby in the afternoon, clear overnight.
Someone overheard Bisson saying “it’s ok to park them by the side of the road, someone will burn it soon and then it can be a planter and a place for vines to grow”
🤣
Why aren’t the parts replacement available taken into account when we originally purchased the buses? This would be a major negotiating point during research.
