Temp Vaccine Clinics This Week

The state Department of Health’s Maui District Health Office has set “pop-up” clinics this week for medics, public health nurses, and National Guard representatives to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to visitors.

Residents can sign up via the links below. Walk-ins will be accepted, but wait times can be avoided by signing up in advance. The Moderna vaccine will be administered, available only to individuals 18 years of age and older.

Listed here are the clinics, starting with the community, followed by the date, sign-up link, and times:

Temporary clinics to administer the Moderna vaccine are scheduled throughout May all around the island. For a complete schedule, visit here.

Business and Job Center Moving to County Service Center

The Maui County Business Resource Center and Maui American Job Center are moving to the new Maui County Service Center (east of Walmart) on Monday, with services anticipated to return by Tuesday.

The move is from the longtime office at Maui Mall to the new county services center, 110 Ala’ihi St., where the county Department of Motor Vehicles office also recently relocated to.

The business and job centers will open in Suite 209, and the phone numbers will not change: (808) 270-5770 for the business center, and (808) 270-5777 for the job center. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, except holidays.

The county service center opened in January and now already hosts the DMV, Department of Finance, and Development Services Administration. The Department of Liquor Control also plans to move its offices from Wailuku to the center in June.

Live-Painting Gallery in Wailea

Maui artist Diane Appler will host sessions with live painting of Maui scenery, with displays of her work, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at the Wailea Beach Resort, 3700 Wailea Alanui Drive in Wailea. The gallery will be arranged in the breezeway near Starbucks.

Besides the live painting, Appler offers custom work upon request, in original oil paintings or premium-quality reproductions using the giclee process (a type of fine-art, high-quality reproduction printing by inkjet by artists).

Hot Meals Nonprofit Kicks Off Annual Fund-Raiser

Hale Kau Kau, a nonprofit organization providing prepared meals daily to hungry and homebound local residents for 30 years, begins its annual Season of Hope fund-raiser this week. This year, in lieu of a live event with attendees, Hale Kau Kau organizers will host the fund-raiser virtually online, via the nonprofit’s website.

The nonprofit has served over 1.6 million meals to homebound and needy individuals for 3 decades now, never missing a single day to serve.

This year, all donations up to $75,000 will be matched by an anonymous donor. Donors become eligible to get gift certificates and items donated by “givers” from the local business community. To become a giver or donor, please visit www.halekaukau.org, call (808) 875-0178, or email mtrotto@liu.edu or halekaukaufundraising@rcchawaii.org.
