The damaging effects of heavy rainfall early last month will be the focus of the Kihei Community Association’s opening membership meeting for 2022, set for Tuesday, Dec. 18.
Interested parties can join the meeting and pose questions online at:
https://facebook.com/kihei.community.association/live.
The focus will be on the County of Maui's current plans to prevent flooding in Kihei during heavy rain events. To address the draft Kihei Drainage Master Plan, two speakers are scheduled to present alternatives and ideas:
- Dr. Amanda Cording is set to explain her Ecosolutions, an environmentally friendly alternative to the current county plan for the two major rivers causing most of the trouble, the Waipuilani and Kulanihakoi.
- Environmental scientist and water-quality expert Robin Knox returns to discuss a holistic view of the Southwest Maui Watershed, and how this stormwater element applies.
