How ~ Spend an afternoon learning to make a lei, and leave with a beautiful handmade item to wear or share with someone special.
Rose Bailey will teach the basics of stringing a lei. Bring a pair of scissors, and all the flowers and greens will be supplied.
However, participants are encouraged to bring anything from their yard that they want to try out in a lei.
Price: $35 for Hui Noeau Visual Arts Center members; $40 for non-members.
Rose Bailey is a hula dancer and Hawaiian arts practitioner. She has learned family traditions that have been passed down for many generations, and takes pride in using many native Hawaiian plants and materials in her lei-making and other hana noeau (arts). She collaborates on special events such as weddings and graduations, teaches the art of lei making and hula, tends to her family's fruit and flower farms, and styles photoshoots.
