Volunteer Week Hawaii culminates Saturday in Maui with a harbor cleanup where volunteers can get a chance to win a round-trip ticket from Southwest Airlines.
Join Southwest Airlines and the Love the Sea nonprofit organization starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at Kahului Harbor. Visit at the end of N. Pu’unene Ave., past First Hawaiian Bank and right on the ocean.
Volunteers who help, and take a photo of themselves helping with the effort, can enter to win the flight tickets by posting the photo to Facebook and Instagram to @Southwestair ~ with “Why I Volunteer” #whyIvolunteer #volunteerweekhawaii #handsonmaui
Southwest Airlines is a sponsor of Volunteer Week Hawaii, which began April 18, across the state.
Volunteer Week Hawaii was launched in 2018 by the statewide grassroots organization Kahu Hawaii as its local take on National Volunteer Week (which has been celebrated annually since 1974). The week is an opportunity to encourage people to get engaged in their communities, and to recognize volunteers for their contributions throughout the year.
Love the Sea is a nonprofit organization dedicated to recovering ocean plastic and preventing further damage from ghost nets and other environmentally damaging plastic debris.
