Maui Insight Going Fully Satire for 2022

Maui Insight, which recently added its tagline "Valley Isle's Hyperbolized News, has announced that the online news site is going fully satire for 2022.

What started as an idea to provide more in-depth features on the people that make the island what it is changed with a couple of lighthearted articles.

"There are plenty of other sources to get real news. But what fun is that?" said Keith Jajko, editor of Maui Insight. "But what readers do not get are real-life insights into the little things that make the society on this island truly grand.

"So we tried to frame residents' love of Spam, or the fact that everyone here seems to be diving a Toyota truck, in a fun way, that's also more insightful than regular news."

Jajko began the satirical offering in mid-2021 with an article exploring why the media always report that Maui shark attacks occur "about 100 yards" off shore.

He followed with a piece satirizing lunatic driving on theĀ Road to Hana, by pretending a new crazy-racing video game was coming out with a version just for the RTH experience.

The articles instantly attracted much more attention than any news articles in Maui Insight, Jajko said.

"Everyone is burned out on the news media now in this Everlasting Pandemic Era," Jajko said. "People live on and visit Maui to get away from all the nonsense. People prefer to laugh than to be alarmed or frightened.

"We're creating a site to celebrate the little things about the Valley Isle that makes it even more special than the natural features, culture, history and food."

Jajko announced that he is seeking assistants for satire news writing, and advertising.
